Located in the park of Berg en Bos in Apeldoorn (Netherlands), Apenheul Primate Park is a zoo specialized in apes and monkeys that opened its doors to the public in 1971as the first zoo worldwide where visitors could walk across the animal's enclosures. Currently, Apenheul Primate Park displays more than 30 different species of primates, including gorillas, orangutans and the much beloved bonobos. Their first gorillas (Balou, Kim, Mouila and Bongo) arrived to the zoo between September and November 1974 from Compenhagen and Cameroon, and three years later, their first baby gorilla was born when Mouila gave birth to Kriba in August 1979, becoming the third gorilla to born healthy in captivity worldwide.
