Opened in 1972 and recently owned by Parques Reunidos, Blackpool Zoo is located in Lancashire and is a home to over 1,500 animals from all over the world including giraffes, asian elephants, squirrel monkeys, lemurs, sea lions or penguins between many other species. Blackpool has gorillas on its facilities since it opened, when in July 1972, two years old gorillas Lomie, Ciska and Kerchack, imported directly from Cameroon arrived to the park, but it wasn't till May 2010 when Meisie, the first baby gorilla born at the zoo, was born.

The current gorilla enclosure was opened in 2000 and is called Gorilla Mountain.
