Disney's Animal Kingdom is the fourth of four theme parks built at the Walt Disney World Resort in Bay Lake. It opened on April 22nd 1998 and is the largest single Disney theme park in the world, covering 235 hectares, being also the first Disney theme park to be themed entirely around animal conservation. Disney's Animal Kingdom is accredited by AZA and WAZA and is divided into seven themed areas, such as Oasis, Discovery Island, Africa or DinoLand. They keep a big diversity of animals, going from parrots to elephants or okapis. Their first gorillas, seven males and two females, arrived in June and November 1997 from Lincoln Zoo, National Zoological Park, Cincinnati Zoo and Milwaukee. One of the females, Hope, arrived pregnant from Lincoln and she gave birth, four months after her arrival to Disney, in November 1997, to Jabari (currently living at Los Angeles Zoo).

Gorillas at Disnye's Animal Kingdom are kept in two groups; first a family group including Gino, Benga, Kashata, Azizi Lilly, Cory and Flint and a bachelor group consisting of  Augustus, Kejana, Zwadi and M'Bizi.   They have two outdoor enclosures. The family group is kept on a 3000 square meters naturalistic habitat connected through a shift door inside a rock cave to a 80 square meters indoor holding area, comprised of four interconnected rooms.
