The Little Rock Zoological Gardens was founded in 1926 and is located in Arkansas, United States. It is currently home to more than 725 animals representing over 200 species, and covers an area of 33 acres (13 ha). The Zoo is split into four zones: North, South, East, and West and their animal collection goes from reptils and amphibians to greater kudu, giraffes or asian elephants. This zoo is a department of the city of Little Rock. It is the largest zoo in Arkansas, and the only one on this state accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Trudy, Tammy, Ollie and Kwashi were the first gorillas of the park. They arrived in April 1988 from Memphis and Buffalo. Their first gorilla birth was when Mosie was born in October 2006 to parents Fossey and Sekani.

Gorillas are kept in two different groups, one of them is formed by Trudy and Brutus, who are enjoying their "retirement". The other group is formed by silverback Kivu, adult females Catherine and Sekani, and Adelina. There are two public outdoor enclosures (one for each group) and are provided with big climbing structures formed by trunks, sticks and resting platforms. There is also a lot of vegetation and grass and sand as substratum.
